First District Level Orientation Program of Inter-Generational Feminist Forum in coordination with Creative Institute Nepal

On 30th June 2023, the First District Level Orientation Program of Inter-Generational Feminist Forum (IGFF) in coordination with Creative Institute Nepal (CIN)was organized in Rupandehi, Lumbini Province. The primary objective of the event was to introduce new members to the IGFF and foster collective action for advancing the feminist agenda in Nepal. In the program 29 participants from diverse backgrounds, LGBTQI+, persons with different abilities, so-called Dalit, single women, and Janajati women have participated.

Pratima Panthee, the Program & Management Director of CIN and Focal person for IGFF Rupandehi, expressed gratitude to the IGFF team for organizing the program.

Sharu Joshi Shrestha, one of the founding members of IGFF, Shared the history of IGFF and delivered a motivational speech, encouraging the participants to approach the program with a positive and energetic mindset. She emphasized the significance of collective action and the need for intergenerational involvement in addressing pressing issues faced by women, such as gender-based violence and female feticide.

Rita Thapa, Founder member of IGFF, via Zoom, addressed the attendees and emphasized the importance of prioritizing well-being, selflessness, and collective efforts to bring about significant changes for women’s empowerment. She also shared that a fundraising initiative through the video highlighting women’s unrecognized work in households, with the proceeds contributing to the IGFF fund is started. Additionally, she elaborated on the women empowerment fund initiated by IGFF, designed to support women aspiring to participate in elections.

In her closing remarks, Pratima Sharma, Chairperson of CIN, expressed gratitude towards the IGFF and CIN teams for organizing the event. She highlighted the value of intergenerational involvement in strengthening the movement, combining the wisdom and experience of older generations with the fresh perspectives and energy of younger ones.
